Experiences

Each experience lasts a morning or a day, and is built around a person rather than a monument: a duchess at her market stall, a mosaicist at his bench, a fisherman reading the morning sea. You arrive as a guest, never as an audience, in parties small enough to be welcomed by name. Taken alone, each encounter is a complete story in itself; woven together across the island, they gradually become a single, unhurried journey of their own.

None of it is improvised: months before you arrive, we sit at these tables ourselves, walk these courtyards and taste these dishes, choosing only what we would want for our own family. The people who receive you are friends of the house, and because the groups are small the afternoon rarely ends when the schedule says it should. What you carry home is not a photograph of a famous facade but the memory of a voice, a gesture, a flavour, the sense of having been let quietly into a Sicily that most travellers pass without ever suspecting it is there.
